Old Man in a Nursing Home

Where he sits from day to day feeling
all alone.
Now, he didn't ask to come to this place,
you see.
No, but too much of a burden he had
begun to be.
When it comes to knowledge, he has a lot
to give.
And when the going gets rough he knows
how to live.
That's because he has been through hard
times before,
But who takes time to listen to this
old man anymore?
can be a chore.
So, four walls and a bed is what he has
in store.
He's sent off to a nice little nursing
home...
We tell ourselves, that's so he won't
be alone.
Now, he's told someone will call on him
everyday.
Then gradually those visits begin to fade
away.
He was put here with good intentions,
tis true,
But the plans that were made weren't
followed through.
So, here this old man sits in one corner
of his room.
Settled upon his face now, is a look of
gloom.
Yes, he's being cared for by a professional
crew
But this old man longs for a visit
