Giving My Troubles to Jesus

A gentle peace came over me as I knelt beside my bed,
Quieting the ugly fears that had crept into my head.
As I listened in the stillness I could hear the
Master say,
"Daughter, why don't you let me take those burdens
for you today?"

My heart was oh, so heavy with those burdens
weighted down.
Upon my troubled face I wore a deeply furrowed
frown.
Jesus bade me let Him carry those burdens for
awhile
And trade that troubled countenance for a
peaceful smile.

Those burdens He did not demand from me with
a sharp command.
Instead, as I reached up to Him, He took my
faltering hand.
Oh, why should I be reluctant to hand my
troubles o'er?
For Jesus has promised to guide me safely
to that golden shore.

I can take those burdens back again if this
I want to choose.
But with Jesus in control of them...I simply
cannot lose.
So, why should I resist Him and keep those
troubles today,
When Jesus has faithfully promised He will
take those burdens away?
