Calming of the Sea

When we ask this friend to come into
our heart
With the burdens of this life we will
gladly part.
God gave us ten commandments to
show us our dirty face.
He imparts His righteousness, this
dirt called, sin, to erase.

Depending on ourselves just will
not do.
We need Christ in our heart to carry
us through.
Alone we cannot keep His Holy law
as hard as we may try,
Jesus in our heart and soul is
where our strength lies.

Without Him we might outwardly
keep a few.
But sooner or later our evil nature
begins to show through.
Jesus came and gave His life that
you and I might live.
No greater love could any friend
ever give.

With Jesus in our heart we can
overcome sin.
It just takes our decision to let
Him come in.
We must pray and gain strength from
Him each new day.
Taking hold of His righteousness
drives Satan away.

Christ imparts His righteousness
as we daily accept Him.
This righteousness becomes
imputed by our choosing not to sin.
Life's raging sea can be calmed if
we will obey,
And the victory of Jesus over sin
is ours to claim today!
